secrets and the government

Should the government be able to keep secrets from the people? Yes and no, it isn't good to keep secrets in the first place. It would be good to keep a secret if it were something really crazy. If it was something really crazy it would be best to keep it because if the people knew they would go crazy over it and everything would be total chaos. Keeping secrets is always bad though. The people could have a solution to the secret and or problem with the secret. We do belong to this country and world so we should know what is going on in it.

Guantanamo Bay

The whole issue with closing Guantanamo Bay is very interesting. The question at play is whether or not the prisoners should be tried in the US. I don't see why they would. They are prisoners of war captured on foreign soil. They should not be tried in the US. In the first place i don't think Guantanamo Bay should be closed. It is a perfect place for deviants and prisoners like the ones that are their. If Guantanamo Bay does close where are we going to put the prisoners? I don't think anybody would want them in their state. They are better of in Guantanamo Bay, and we are better off if they don't close it.

hate crime

Hate crimes should not be tolerated, i think it is just a bunch of people who want attention. Hate crime laws, therefore, are good because they protect the people. Specifically they can protect homosexual people and or transgenders. This is good because they can't really protect themselves, because in society many equality laws do not benefit them; therefore, hate crime laws prevent a lot of hate crime outbreaks against transgenders and homosexuals.

race affecting court

No, in no way shape or form should the court be affected by race. A variety of people would be ideal for the court system. It would be ideal because people of different races could have different things to contribute to the court system, which would be better for it. It is a lot better than just having one race who all might have had the same home life as a child then the variety and discussion would not be the same.

marijuana legalization

Considering the economic downturn in America today legalizing can not only have medical impact but an economic one too. If the government controlled the flow of narcotics throughout the country and placed a tax on them large sums of money would be made. A huge job opportunity would be opened and those participating in what is now illegal would be actively working for the government. Legalizing would also put less of a strain on the prison and court systems making them available for real issues and criminals. Marijuana also has great medical potential and if legalized could help many people.

congressional districts

Yes of course congressmen should have to live in the district they represent. It would not make sense if they did not. They would not know what the issues or what was going on in that district. They have to live in the districts they represent in order to do the best job they can. Otherwise people from New York could run California. Which does not work because they do not know what we want or the current issues.

• Do you think Obama’s Presidency will help or harm each party?

It is hard to tell at this point whether he will harm or help each party. Whatever he does isn't necessarily to harm the other party, or his own party. He is trying his best to do what he thinks is best for this country. It is too early to say if he has helped or harmed anyone. He isn't trying to harm any party, but to help both, and our country.

p. 84 1&2

1. I don't really have personal experience with politics, government class would be the biggest contributor. My dad probably influences politics the most in my life, he likes to talk about the president, politics, and what is going on in America.

2. My families party affiliation has had the greatest effect on my political attitude. This is because my dad is always throwing his two cents in. He likes to talk, politics and everything going on gives him the chance.
choose a question:
1. All Americans should not receive free health care. Sure some people can't afford it, or some are just poor. We should all have to pay. If we get "free" health care we will pay for it in taxes. It won't necessarily be free, eventually it has to get paid. Plus you get the people who don't do anything, or won't do anything, do we really want them receiving free health care?
